As promised in last week's 'Principally Yours column, we are going to check in with a new student that transfers to our MCS community. Her name is Vasilissa. She is in 9th Grade and she started the new school year with us this fall.

I sat down with her this week and asked how things are going. She responded. "things are going pretty good. I like the classes and the school is pretty unique." I asked her to elaborate why she liked the school and she said she likes the new students she has met and the teachers. Vasilissa is excited that we have a ski team and will be hitting slopes this winter.

Vasilissa has a brother who also attends MCS. William is in 10th grade. He also likes our school. Vasilissa also shared that her parents are very happy with our school. The opportunity to come here has been a very positive experience.

I asked her if she had any suggestions for our school regarding improvements. She reported to me, it would be great to have a photography club. She is very interested in photography along with debating. I let her know I would share the requests with our Leadership Team.

In the future, Vasilissa is interested in Biomedical Engineering. She hopes to connect with our Guidance Department to learn how to make her goals a reality. Mrs. Triebe has a wealth of information to share with our students to help dreams become reality. We look forward to the next 4 years to check in and learn more about how she is doing with her post-secondary goals.

It has been a pleasure for me to reach out to the new students this year. I also hope the interviews are a window for our MCS community to see the great things that our students experience when they come to our school. Stay tuned next week, as I explore what it is like to be a Middle School student in our school. I am looking forward to sharing more stories so our friends of MCS can learn about the great things our students experience thanks to our  Faculty, Staff, and MCS Community.
